Once an idea reaches the "invention" stage, a number of scenarios can keep it from moving forward. Some intellectual property might have been developed but additional demonstration of success is required. The technology can require further development for the scaling-up or for a pilot project.
After identifying the innovation several specialized tasks are required. These will reduce the uncertainty associated with applying the technology to commercial needs so that the “invention” can turn into “innovation”. Ideas pushing into market are usually lost on the market ocean. In contrast, ideas that start off an understanding of valid market needs are much more likely to succeed. Often the most successful innovations stem from cross-disciplinary applications of an existing technology.
BIOCANT VENTURES created the BV Fund to invest seed capital in selected Life Sciences technologies and research projects. This will allow performing all the tasks and the achievement of “innovation”.
The financial resources of BIOCANT VENTURES will permit evaluation programs, tests, validations, prototyping, modelling, etc. All of this could be a future intellectual asset for the economic development of an eventual new company.
